Hi dear Nancy, thank you so much for reading and for this sweet comment, yes of course please feel free to share! I am honored 🙏💞🌌🕯️ many blessings to you
I love your heart Kate... thank you for inviting me into presence today. I created a sweet space to drink tea and read your words by candlelight amongst a day of many doings. I feel closer to my heart now after reading your words, taking in the poems and images shared. This is a gift you continuously give me. I feel lucky to receive your heart in this way. Summer's ending is bittersweet, timidly arriving with an invitation to remember and slow down. The grief and the love. All here x
🥹 oh my heart welled reading this… I am incredibly grateful for your presence on earth, all the beauty you bring. and for turning your heartful attention to what I write. Last night I made your coconut cilantro chutney to go with dal, it is one of my favorites in the collection. Exquisite… like you.
My heart needed this. I cried when I really thought about that planet left orbiting its star all alone. Thank you for all that you are and sharing it with us, I always open your newsletters the second they arrive in my inbox! Much love Kate.
I get so excited when you share new writing. I have been thinking a lot about the “role” of dogs and the way you framed them made me audibly gasp and I had to reread it multiple times because it is so perfectly said. Thank you thank you 🩷
aw thank you for reading my friend!! and for this sweet comment, the funny thing is that as I was writing the dog section, it became so ridiculously long that I ended up have to delete most of it, haha. and I was laughing to myself that all I really want to write about is dogs :) maybe it will become a piece of its own. thank you for loving the canids as much as I do.
Thank you for this beautiful reminder to stay in presence.
"Cultivating heartful presence is perhaps the greatest act of ecological restoration humans can participate in. To sit, breathe, and allow who we are and what we have to be enough. To watch the world approach us with gifts beyond form, to feel the creative intelligence of the wild world speak through us. The more we experience this, the more we will be able to gently dismantle the modern human definition of the word intelligence, which centers completely around human intellect and the success of our individual identities, and has led to the destruction of our ecosystems and each other."
I feel this 100%. Let us make it so!
"Every day I wake up before dawn to drink tea by candlelight. I sit quietly and scribble things into my journal before pulling a random poetry book off the shelf."
You remind me that I need more of this. Maybe not this exactly, but I find that I choose in alignment with myself over larger moments - to tend plants and explore wild places and watch moonrises - but that in the smaller day-to-day moments I am still too often unconsciously gravitating toward screens. Often to discover essays and poems like this one :-), but I feel I would like more intentionality and ritual.
Dear Markael I am always so inspired by your reflections and your attention to the hidden details.. you brought up a really important point when you said "maybe not this exactly".. because part of the tending is in finding our own unique way. It is very specific to each of us. And I also love the thought of bringing more ritual to even using these screens... we give so much of our attention to them, there must be a way to make it more conscious, mindful, generative... thank you for reading and for being here with your curious heart!! <3 <3
Phew 😅 that felt like being transported to a different world- to the spaces in between. Thank you

The poem that begins with "The question is how much tenderness are you willing to bring forth..."
Thank you for your writing and sharing and for considering if I may share your poem with others. Thanks!
